On March 18, 2019 NRMCC member Comrick317 was hired or should we say his Comet was hired for a photo shot. This was a first for both Comrick317 and his beloved Ratrod '76 Mercury Comet. The car was trailered all the way up to Blue Mountain Ontario (first time on a flatbed) and treated like a trailer queen. If you know this Comet it is NEVER on a trailer, this is no fair weather trailer queen. Here are some of the pictures from this first time experience.
First the Comet was loaded up on the flatbed for it's trip to Blue Mountain for the photo shoot. Odd to see it on a truck as it always drives wherever it needs to go. I guess as the star on this trip the old Comet gets the star treatment.
Comrick317 keeping a watchful eye on the 'ol Comet. Usually behind the wheel on any road trip this was a strange sight to see indeed.
On the other hand Comrick317's daughter had no problem with it, no stress. Ah the exuberance of youth. Comrick317 was once young too.
And off we went on our drive to Blue Mountain for the photo shoot but first we had to make a stop at the sandwich light. Old faithful never lets us down.
But first a stop for some gas. Nice for a change to not be the one paying to fill the tank but instead to watch from a distance.
Father and daughter on a road trip, it doesn't get much better than this.
Almost there, it takes a bit of time to get to Blue Mountain from Mississauga but the trip was a relaxing drive through nice country roads.
Arriving at the No tell Motel where we will all meet before going to the location of the photo shoot. Just a short drive away in the Comet.
Ah the Alphorn, so many little secrets. :)
Comrick317 keeping an eye on his Comet. So far so good.
Now that we're here and everything worked out perfectly it's time to unload the Comet and get it to the location of the photo shoot.
At a photo shoot always listen to the director......unlike me.......park the Comet facing the other way please. I love the very dead former Esso gas station as a back drop, sorta matches the Comets Ratrod look which was the idea.
Add in some balloon's and high heel shoes and a little picnic basket and we have some props for our photo shoot.
Now add in the models , the photographer, the prop and lighting guy, some balloons and we are in business. Seems small but it was a ton of fun to watch.
The ol' Comet is a background super star......for the moment.
And as the perfect picture was taken the photo shoot was over and with the light disappearing fast, it was all over but the crying.
Never sneeze while taking a picture, most times it just does not work out.
And a dab to the ol' Comet for good luck. And also a quick family portrait shot.
Or not..........yikes!
And then it was once again time to load the Comet on the flatbed for the drive home. We had a blast watching the whole process unfold before our very eyes.
Soon the Comet's empty spot in the driveway will be filled.
That was our Comet photo shoot in an NRMCC photo essay. We had a great time, the road trip was excellent and it was an experience with my daughter i will never forget. I would like to especially thank Jackie Emm and her crew for seeing in the Comet what most can't. Thank you for hiring us and of course the car. Jackie was professional all the way and if she ever wants to hire you / your car she will take care of you properly and with respect. Thanks for the experience.
