As in previous years we started our annual Maverick Comet get together with a Mountain Cruise to Milton. This was our 6th Mountain Cruise before the Meet and Greet with a mini convoy of two Mavericks and one Comet cruising up Appleby Line in Burlington to Milton to join up with other Mavericks and Comets for the start of our 12th Meet and Greet. It's always a treat to pull into the parking lot of the Kelsey's restaurant in Milton and seeing a few Comets and Mavericks already waiting in the lot and the thrill once again of joining in with our little convoy of cars. Once again Vince and John joined our Meet and Greet with their two '68 Comets. Larry was part of our convoy to the show and shine as well as being the first Maverick ever to attend a Meet and Greet back in 2006, it was great to see the original Maverick join us again all these years later. Of course J and Comrick317 were also part of the convoy to Kelsey's. When we arrived John was there with his 1970 Maverick race car complete with trailer. His Maverick was sporting a new yellow paint job which glowed in the hot sun, his Maverick is easily the quietest car at the show. Much thanks to John for taking the time to bring your Maverick and trailer out to our Meet and Greet. Once the cars were lined up, off we went for a nice lunch at Kelsey's. After our meals outside we went for a little viewing of the Comets and Mavericks. Later on one more '64 Comet joined us from the Mustang show just down the road at Heritage Park. All i can say is the more the merrier. There is nothing like seeing Comets and Mavericks lined up in a row from the 60's and 70's, a nice mix of classics, 1/4 mile cars, cool 4-doors, ratrods and the return of the original Maverick from our first Meet and Greet all sitting in the bright hot sun. The show turned out great and as always was a thrill for us. Next year if you can, make the move and BRING OUT YER Mavericks and Comets.
This year our 6th Maverick Comet Mountain Cruise once again started by the lake on Appleby Line just South of the Lakeshore in Burlington.
And off to Milton on our little Comet Maverick convoy.
And what would an NRMCC Mountain Cruise be without a police escort?
Beware of Rattle Snake Point.......
It's nice to see Larry's stunningly cool Maverick back on the Mountain Cruise again after a long absence. It was said during the event that this Maverick should have come out of a Hotwheels box complete with the backing board. I could not have agreed more with this statement!
Everywhere you look, Comets and Mavericks in every direction. All roads in Milton lead to the 12th Annual NRMCC Maverick Comet Meet and Greet.
Soon our little MavCom convoy arrived at Kelsey's Restaurant in Milton to join the other Mavericks and Comets for the Meet and Greet & Show and Shine. Always my favorite part of the Mountain Cruise.
We even had a police car in a plain wrapper escort us on our Mountain Cruise. Everyone behaved....... well, until he turned off into a coffee shop.
But first a little lunch at Kelsey's with the crew. Maybe tell a car related lie or three. As always it's great to see everyone once again in MavCom land. Before we got our lunches, we needed to hand out the NRMCC hardware.
DVD's from the 2016 Meet and Greet and of course the dash plaques.
Of course security for our cars was provided by Milton's finest.
The 2017 Meet and Greet & Show and Shine.
We even had a Trans Am and a GTOOOO show up for our show. All's cool.
After a little discussion we decided to move the Mavericks and Comets up into a nice row of Ford & Mercury steel which also made for better pictures.
Always to me an amazing sight to see all the Comets and Mavericks lined up in a row of 60's and 70's, racecars, 4-doors, ratrods, Grabbers, Cobra Jets.
Here's a closer look at the Comets and Mavericks.
Vince's '68 Comet, one is rare enough but two of these Comets in the same place is an amazing sight.
John's '68 Comet with the 428 Cobra Jet. Big and fast is the way to go.
Comrick317's old faithful Ratrod Comet. Still rollin' after all these years.
And the return of Larry's wicked Maverick after five years, this is the original Meet and Greet Maverick. Damn this car looks great and sits just right.
J's cool 4-door Maverick with the newly painted hood and copper custom Grabber hood stripe. Flatblack........ my favorite colour.
This is John's '70 Maverick race car sporting a new yellow paint job but retaining the flatblack hood. Thank you John for taking the time to trailer it out to our Meet and Greet, it made for a nice addition to the show.
And of course this beautiful '64 Comet Caliente. This Comet is black and near perfect and was last to come to the Meet and Greet, but was a great addition to the our show and shine.
Thank you John for providing us with a trailer and some shade from the sun.
The official group pictures of the 2017 Maverick Comet Meet & Greet crew.
One last look at the 2017 edition of the Maverick Comet Meet and Greet.
And with that came the end of another great NRMCC Maverick Comet Meet and Greet for 2017. I would like to thank all who came out to our show and shine and a big thank you to all the car owners who took the time to bring their cars. I would also like to point out my complete appreciation to John Jarvis for taking the time to bring out his trailer and his cool yellow race Maverick, not only a nice addition to our show and shine but also his trailer provided shade from the hot sun. Remember, without your cars there would be no Meet and Greet or Mountain Cruise. Again, thank you and see you next year. Bring out yer cars!!!!!!
